Games are played at the shallow end of the pool so
you do not need to be an expert swimming to play.
|
Any team that comprised of all females will be
allowed one extra player to be in the pool at all
times if a separate female league is not formed.
However, the team must follow all other rules.
|

All standard basketball rules that are not redefined
by these Water Basketball Rules apply, such as
goaltending will not be allowed. Goaltending will
be called if the defending team knocks down a ball
that is on a downward trajectory towards the hoop. |

Time-Out/Substitutions

Scoring

Any basket made from anywhere in the pool is
worth 1 point.

All games played to 15
Games have 30 minute time limit.
-
Tie score at end of game will result in 2 minute
overtime.

Fouls/Violations
-
All games are self officiated.

Any dispute will be settled by recreational
workers. Their decision is FINAL.

Violations resulting in a loss of possession
include:
Taking the ball completely underwater—without
the assistance of an opposing player
Climbing out of the pool
Using the pool walls in anyway offensively or
defensively to aid in play

Fouls include actions both above and below the
water

A player holds, dunks, or splashes an opponent.

Unnecessary roughness Unsportsmanlike like
conduct.
A Rec. Sport Supervisor's judgment will supersede if
action is placing opponent at personal (life
endangering) disadvantage.

No Foul Shooting
-
No Basket: A team that is fouled shall be
awarded one point and possession of the ball.

Basket Made: The fouled team shall receive the
points for the basket, one point for the foul,
and possession of the ball will go to the other
team.

Intentional Fouls: A team that is fouled
intentionally shall be awarded two points and
possession of the ball.

Live ball/Dead ball/ possession
-
After a dead ball the ball must be checked back
into play by the defender behind the indicated
line.

Ball changes possession after made basket.

When a jump ball is called during a game, the
ball will be awarded to the defensive team
-
The ball must be “checked” by an opposing player
before it is put into play. The player must
pass the ball at the top of the court and start
play.

All Violations will be played out of bounce at
the top of the court. A ball out of bounds will
be taken out at the top of the court.

The ball must be taken past the three-point line
on change of possession. Violation occurs if
basket is made by tame failing to cross line and
it will result in loss of point scored and
possession to other team.

The ball will be considered out of bounds if it
goes out onto the deck or gets stuck in the
gutter. Anything beyond the assigned marker is
out of bounds. The ball going out of bounds
results in an automatic turn over at the spot
where the ball went out of bounds.

Any behavior considered life endangering by the
lifeguard or Rec. Sport intern will result in one
warning for the entire duration of the league. Upon
a 2nd offense it will result in expulsion
from the league |
