Monmouth College’s Davidson is MWC
Performer of the Week
Release Date: October 23, 2006
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College freshman forward Christa Davidson (Godfrey,
Ill./Alton) supplied some much-needed scoring and was named the
Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week in women’s
soccer.
Davidson battled back from a pair of injuries last week to help keep
Monmouth in the hunt for a league tournament berth. She suffered a
minor head injury Tuesday against Clarke, a game in which she scored
a goal.
An ankle injury Saturday at Lake
Forest that required hospital care didn’t slow her down as a speedy
recovery allowed her to help the Fighting Scots overcome a 2-0
deficit. Monmouth scored three goals in the last 15 minutes to pull
out a 3-2 win at Beloit, with Davidson assisting the tying goal and
scoring the game-winner. With the win Monmouth is in fifth place at
4-3.
Davidson leads the Scots in goals (11) and points (27) and is second
in assists (5). She is the daughter of Craig and JoEllen Davidson of
Godfrey.
