Performer of the Week
Release Date: February 15, 2006
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College men’s pole vaulter Peter Sprecher (Canton,
Ill./Canton) had the best performance of his career at last
Saturday’s Fighting Scot Invitational at Monmouth and that
performance landed the sophomore his first Midwest Conference
Performer of the Week honor in men’s indoor track and field.
Sprecher, named the field Performer of the Week, cleared the pole
vault at 16’ to take second in the event. The sophomore’s effort has
provisionally qualified him for the NCAA national meet in March and
the mark ties him for the 11th-best vault in the nation this season.
His previous best of 15’3” was set two weeks ago. Only All-American
Keenan King has a higher vault in the history of Fighting Scots
indoor track and field.
An exploratory major, Sprecher is the son of Rod and Jean Sprecher
of Canton.
