MC’s Daniels sets record…again,
named MWC Performer of the Week
Release Date: October 16, 2006
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College senior running back Dante Daniels (Waukegan,
Ill./Gurnee-Warren), who broke his own school record by rushing for
247 yards against Ripon College Saturday, was awarded his third
Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week honor.
Daniels bested his month-old record on 36 carries while scoring on
TD runs of one and 65 yards as the Fighting Scots handed the Red
Hawks their first league loss. The senior tailback’s 169.6 yards per
game leads the league, and he entered the weekend ranked third
nationally. In breaking his own record, Daniels became the Scots’
first 1,000-yard back since Kevin Matarelli ran for 1,175 yards
during the 1993 season. His 1,187 yards is just shy of Ron Baker’s
school record of 1,218 set in 1974.
