
Monmouth College’s Barr is Track

MONMOUTH,
Ill. – Monmouth College’s Zach Barr (Roseville, Ill./HS) continues
to turn up the heat on track competitors and has been named this
week’s Midwest Conference Men’s Track Performer of the Week.
Barr, a junior distance runner, ran the seventh-fastest steeplechase
time in the nation en route to an easy victory at the Dick Young
Classic at Grinnell College on Saturday. His provisional time of
9:18.64 was
35 seconds faster than the runner-up. In the 5000-meter run, he
placed second to the two-time national cross country champion. His
steeplechase time is ranked first in the MWC and his 5K time is
second.
A physical education major, Barr is the son of Terry and Jeanne Barr
of Roseville.
