Release Date: September 13, 2005
MONMOUTH,
Ill. – For the second straight week, the Monmouth College football
team has had a player honored by the Midwest Conference.
Senior quarterback Mitch Tanney (Lexington, Ill./Lexington) was
named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week for his
outstanding play in last weekend’s 48-34 win over Ripon.
Tanney threw for four touchdowns, completing 17-of-25 passes without
an interception during the Scots’ conference opening win. The Scots
exploded to a 48-0 lead before Ripon put on a fourth-quarter surge.
Tanney led the Scots to a record 34-point second quarter as Monmouth
held a 41-0 advantage at halftime. He amassed 259 passing yards
while improving his pass efficiency rating to 190.86.
The Scots travel to DePere, Wis., Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. date with
defending MWC champion St. Norbert. Monmouth hopes to avenge the
only blemish on last year’s 9-1 record.
