Steve Gray named MWC Men's Soccer Player of the
Week
Release Date: September 14, 2000
Steve Gray helped get the Monmouth College Fighting Scots men’s soccer team off to
a great start this season, and he has been rewarded with the first Midwest Conference
Offensive Player of the Week honor for the fall.
The junior forward from Princeton,
Ill., delivered two goals in the Scots’ first-ever game at their new field at Peacock
Memorial Athletic Park, helping MC to a 3-0 in over Central College. One week later, his
header opened the scoring in a key 2-1 conference win over Grinnell College. Gray had an
assist the next day as the Scots ran their record to 3-0 for the first time ever in a
4-2 victory at Cornell College.
Gray’s seven points currently lead
the team, and he also tied for that honor last year with 12 points on six goals.
The league’s defensive honor went to
St. Norbert goalkeeper David Perkins, who recorded three victories, including a shutout
and a key win over MWC power Beloit. |
