‘Tales of Chocolate’ to be told
at Monmouth College lecture

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College assistant professor of history Amy
de Farias will present an informal talk on the history of chocolate on
Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of the
college’s Stockdale Center.
Titled "Tales of Chocolate," her talk is free and open to the public.
A Latin American specialist and a lover of chocolate, Caldwell de
Farias will discuss the origins of chocolate – a "divine" beverage in
pre-Colombian times in Mexico – and then trace its evolution from a
drink fit for the gods to a widely-consumed and sought-after product in
today’s global economy.
