Lysistrata to be performed by MC’s Crimson Masque Release Date:

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Monmouth College students Jessie Carpenter of Long Grove, Iowa, Kayt Griffith of Woodstock, Aubreigh Moon of Galena and Laurel Buckley of Sublette pose during a dress rehearsal for Aristophanes’ renowned comedy of gender politics, “Lysistrata,” which will be performed by MC’s Crimson Masque Nov. 20-23 at the college’s Wells Theater. Griffith plays the lead role of Lysistrata, who “unites the women of Athens in a general sex strike to force the soldiers (involved in a 20-year war) to come to their senses," explained theatre professor Bill Wallace, who is directing the play.
