Danielle Prince '08 |
MONMOUTH, Ill. — Danielle Prince, a sophomore from Morris,
Ill., was featured Feb. 9 as "Scholar of the Day" on the Web site of the
National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
An honors organization which recognizes outstanding academic achievement
among first- and second-year college students, the NSCS encourages
members to develop leadership skills through community service.
The organization has 218 chapters in all 50 states and
more than 70,000 new members join each year. Members must be in the top
20th percentile of their class and have a GPA of at least 3.4.
The text of the story on the NSCS site is as follows:
Danielle N. Prince, a biochemistry major at Monmouth
College, considers her weekly Bible study group to be a "highlight of my
week." Prince said that, "I really enjoy the fact that I get to hang out
with friends while at the same time, I come closer to God." Prince also
enjoys her time off from class participating in theater and track. She
attributes both as providing challenges "that I must overcome" and
providing a get-away from the stress of college life.
Once she receives her bachelor's degree, Prince would
like to attend graduate school and obtain a degree in forensic sciences.
"After the completion of grad school, I plan on pursuing forensic
science as my career," she said. "I have wanted to be a forensic
scientist since I was in sixth grade." Prince said that she sees science
as "a giant puzzle that needs to be solves in order for the truth to be
revealed."
Prince stresses that "life is a gift and every one is
precious." She advised for everyone to "live like you deserve the gift."
