MONMOUTH, I ll. – Nine Monmouth College students recently were inducted
into the college’s Gamma Omicron chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, the national
Classics honors society.
Inducted during Thursday’s ceremony were freshmen Michelle Anstett of
Peoria, Ashley Clegg of Monmouth, Richard Harrod of Annapolis, Md.,
Ashleigh Tweed of Monmouth and Merry Vue of Thornton, Colo.; sophomore
Matthew Woods of Savannah, Ga.; juniors Misty Bowman of Monmouth and Kirk
Gilmore of Galesburg; and senior Zach Pedigo of Galesburg.
Membership in Eta Sigma Phi is based upon excellent work in the study
of Latin or ancient Greek and is by invitation only. Founded at Monmouth
in 1956, the Gamma Omicron chapter is advised by Classics professor Tom
Sienkewicz.
