You are invited to experience the unique opportunities being offered. Enjoy the best instruction available in your chosen sports, live a full and varied life with fellow campers in air-conditioned dormitories, and have the opportunity to use the excellent athletic facilities at Monmouth College. Counselors are able to spend time assisting campers with their individual needs, because groups are kept as small as possible. Counselors are selected with extreme care. They reflect outstanding teaching ability in their sports, and the desire to help develop youngsters into good citizens. Our counselors are young teachers and student-athletes who have significant knowledge and skill in their own individual sport. Many of the instructors are high school and college coaches who have already built fine reputations in their own chosen area of specialization. Campers will receive sports instruction, as well as participate in special activities and competitions daily. Evening programs include team building, motivational speakers, social activities and entertainment.
There are unlimited opportunities for athletic skill development in numerous sports. Each camper selects one sport to be his or her "major." He/she spends a total of two and one-half hours each day receiving intensive training from highly-qualified instructors in the finer techniques of that sport. In addition to their major, each camper selects two "minor" sports and receives at least one hour and fifteen minutes per day of training in each of these activities. There are at least two hours of competition daily in many sports where campers have the opportunity to put what they have learned to use under game conditions. The last day of camp is our "Camp Olympics." Parents are invited to attend and watch the campers in action.
Camp Directors Together, the Tuckers have been directing the highly successful Loras College All-Sports Camp in Dubuque, Iowa for 26 years. In the summer of 2005, they brought the concept of an all-sports camp to Monmouth with the First Annual Monmouth College All-Sports Camp. They are very excited to be back at their alma mater to bring this concept of an all-sports camp for kids, which focuses on Christian values, sportsmanship, citizenship, and athletic skill development. According to campers, parents, counselors, instructors and staff, last year's Monmouth College All-Sports Camp was a great experience which they can expect to repeat in the summer of 2010. They are looking forward to seeing you all at the camp this year.
Paddle Award ™ Each of the eight letters in the acronym, M-C-P-A-D-D-L-E, represents a particular characteristic of sportsmanship. At the end of the week, a council fire is held for the campers, and individuals are recognized as having improved themselves in one of the symbolized areas. The first award is the paddle itself. To earn the paddle, the camper must follow the Four Golden Rules of the camp, which are: be a good listener; follow instructions; try hard; and have fun. Once the
paddle has been awarded, the camper may then earn a brand
representing one of the characteristics of sportsmanship. The
campers' goal
is to earn all eight brands during his/her years as a
camper. |
